The school in Chandranagara is located as a part of an urban slum. It is one of the schools which had benefited from the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan of the Government of India. Four class rooms have been added under the scheme and as a result, it has been able to up grade itself into a higher primary school last year.

The school has 280 students and four State appointed teachers; we have provided them with three more, with which they are able to put up a good performance. The staff is well motivated and capable of showing good results on the academic front. We have introduced computers in this school to enable multimedia based teaching, which is put to good use. With a number of incentives, we are pushing the school to become another model in the area.

Kids from this school come from very poor social strata and run the highest risk of dropping out at the stage of entering the High School. Our scholarships help a lot in reducing this risk, at least in the case of the most merited students.
