The school in Gubbalala was a lower primary one when Sikshana was introduced in 2002; it had at that time 145 students in Grades 1 to 5. Now the strength has grown to 210, with students going up to 7th. One of the major inputs from us to enable this up gradation to upper primary level was an additional building which provided space for two more classes, thanks to the support from two chapters of AID, USA.

The school had four teachers to cover 7 classes; over the last three years, our support has grown to cover deployment of three additional teachers. We have thus been able to provide a teacher in each class.
The school has been actively participating in all Sikshana activities, like library hour, dictation classes, out door activities, educational tours etc,. The school has two PC's which are extensively used. All the teachers have been trained on the use of PC's and multimedia based teaching; most students from 5th Grade onwards have thus acquired a working knowledge of computers. With a high level of discipline and motivation among the kids and the staff, it has potential for becoming a model school in the neighborhood.
