Replicable model
Sikshana was created with a goal of creating a model which will lend itself to replication within the Indian public education system—the final objective being to improve the quality of education. After seven years of running the programme—the last three of which was spent on perfecting the model-we are fairly confident that we have a model which is ready for replication across India.
The model is based on the following premises:
- Public (or government) schools have a very important role to play in the development of society and it is very critical that the quality of education delivered by these institutions is of optimal level.
- There is scope for improvement within the existing system and all efforts should be towards ensuring that this goal is realised.
- This is a statistically valid model and, as such, the focus should be primarily on improving the average for the majority.
- The key to the model's success is its simplicity and it is recommended that during implementation this simplicity is retained.
