Preamble

In a country where 90% of all children in the 6-14 age group go to a public school, any meaningful effort to improve the educational standards of the new generation should necessarily start here.

While there has been some improvement the State schooling system over the past decades in terms of access and enrollment, this has not been reflected in corresponding enhancements in respect of Quality and learning levels in the class room, which continue to cause serious concern. Though a few interesting ideas emerged under the "Alternate Schools" system to improve the standards in niche segments, none of them - however well intended - can be considered as a substitute for government-funded schools in view of the sheer numbers faced.
